6. "If God is love and He loves me, then I'm OK, right?"

T he Bible says that God is love. His love for you can never be questioned because He loves you unconditionally. This means that He loves you whether you deserve it or not, or whether you love Him back or not. This means that everyone is going to Heaven then, right? Wrong. You must understand the following truth. God’s love for you is unconditional, but His saving grace is very conditional. His love can be found everywhere but His saving grace is found only in one place, and that is in His Son Jesus. The sobering truth of the matter is that God will deeply love, with tears in His eyes, the very ones whom He must sentence to eternal condemnation for not receiving the salvation offered only in Jesus Christ. John says,” For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” This is how much He loves you. He loves you so much that He offered the life of His Son, and it is the only means by which you can be saved. Please don’t think for a minute that God’s infinite love turns Him into some sort of big, puffy, good-natured marshmallow God who would never harm a fly, even if provoked. He is an awesome, righteous, holy God who is to be feared. Luke 12:5 says, “But I will show you whom you should fear; fear Him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him.”

God the Father loves His Son Jesus more than you can comprehend, and He takes Jesus’ death on the cross to save you very seriously. Please do not treat lightly Jesus’ death on the cross to save you because it is your only hope of escape from the certain wrath of an awesome God on the day He will judge the earth. No my friend, the fact that God loves you will not save you, but His love for you provided the way in which you may be saved. The way is Jesus. He loves you and longs for you to turn to Him so that you can be saved.
